Trekking to Goldau
It is so easy to get lost in the bewitching beauty of lake Goldau, so much that you forget that it came to existence due to a catastrophe that befell Switzerland in the autumn of 1806.
I am here for the mountains
Switzerland is all mountains and lakes and nearly everything an adventure seeker dreams about. Which is precisely why I am here. I must also mention how fortunate I am that I know people who like me for no apparent reason [...]
Things I’ve learned about Switzerland: part 1
I've been in the land of chocolate and cheese for a good five days now and I'm learning a great deal. I can finally say I know exactly what people mean when they say, 'travelling is the best education'. I can only compare travelling to being five-years-old again, you can`t even cross the street without being at a risk of being hit by a car. And what is considered good manners in your country, might not ring true in another.
Good afternoon Elands Bay
Like most of my travels with Himself, the only consistent thing on our travel itinerary is: good food, getting in the water and basically having the best time of our lives. The past weekend was no exception. After my return [...]
48 hours around the Wild Coast
Glen Gariff is one of Eastern Cape’s hidden gems. It situated just half an hour North of East London. Even though the town is still going through some developments there’s a lot of joy to be found around here. For [...]
Day 7-9: Skinny dipping in Nqileni
The same friend who led us to the best food spots in Kysna suggested we forego Coffee Bay for a soulful experience at the scenic village called Nqileni. So far our "tour guide" had made recommendations which we were happy [...]
Day 5-6: Sushi in East London
What's that thing they say about balancing work and play? Day five was a Saturday, which in my world means class. So on Friday night we had to be in East London. We didn't have any activities or places we [...]
Day 3-4: Pork chops in Tsitsikama
After our brief affair with the picturesque Knysna, it was only fitting that we make a stop in Tsitsikama, seeing that it's just around the corner.
Day 2: Good morning Knysna
Having missed lunch in Wilderness, we made sure not to repeat the same mistake. We woke up reasonably early, went to jog by the seaside.
Day 1: Chasing lunch in Wilderness
On Wednesday the 4th of May, Himself and myself decided to go on a road trip which began in the Garden Route and ended in the Wild Coast. We didn’t have a set itinerary; the only thing we agreed on was to search for mouth-watering food wherever we stopped and of course to live our best lives.
India Venster
Too often people undermine this path and as a result have fallen to untimely deaths. I've read that in total, there are five people who have died in that route, but that was before they put staples.
My first trail run experience
Ever since I started doing yoga, my instructor kept nagging to give trail running a try. She reckoned I would like it since it combines my two loves, running and mountains.
About me

This blog is about everything I hold dear to my heart: books, food, travel, art and people. I dream of becoming a mountaineer, of climbing the highest mountains in every continent, because mountains are to me what religion is to other people. I feel alive when I’m out in the wild. It’s a feeling only people who love the outdoors can understand.
